Butterfly Release

The Butterfly Release is one of Gainesville Parks and Recreation Foundation’s most heartfelt community traditions. Each year, families and friends gather to release live butterflies in celebration of growth, remembrance, and renewal. The event symbolizes the beauty of nature and the importance of preserving habitats where butterflies—and all pollinators—can thrive.

Funds raised through the Butterfly Release help support local park beautification projects and environmental education programs.
